Classes Currently on Hold

Our beloved teacher, Ms. Ruth DeRamus, is resting and healing. We hold the space open in her honor, and we look forward to practicing together again when she is ready. Our hearts are with her every day.

Ms. Ruth DeRamus — Teacher, Guide & Friend

Ms. Ruth
DeRamus

“She does not just teach the form. She teaches you how to arrive in your own body.”

Among the many devoted students who trained under the great Master Moi, few carried the teachings with the quiet depth that Ms. Ruth DeRamus has brought to every class, every correction, every moment of patient guidance. She did not simply learn the forms. She understood them.

For the members of Random Tai Chi, Ms. Ruth is not merely an instructor. She is the reason we return. Her presence in the circle — grounding, precise, warm — has shaped not only how we move, but how we listen. How we breathe. How we show up for one another.

This page exists as a living tribute to her dedication and her spirit. We are holding her in our hearts as she heals, and we are holding our circle open, ready for the morning she steps back into it.

Ms. Ruth is currently resting and healing. We send her our love, our gratitude, and the quiet energy of every form we have ever practiced together.

The Lineage

Tai Chi is not invented. It is passed hand to hand, breath to breath, through an unbroken chain of teachers and students. This is ours.

A Community
That Endured

The Beginning
Roots in the Taoist Tradition

We began as members of Taoist.org, the U.S. Edition, trained and shaped by the profound curriculum Master Moi built. The practice reached us through that lineage, and we are grateful for every year we spent inside it.

2020 – Covid
When the Circle Broke

The pandemic forced our group to stop gathering. Unable to meet during those years for health reasons, and navigating organizational changes that made continuing under the Taoist.org banner impossible, our chapter found itself at a crossroads.

A New Chapter
Random Tai Chi Is Born

Rather than let the practice fade, our group reformed under the guidance of Ms. Ruth DeRamus, who carried the lineage forward with everything she had learned from Master Moi. We chose a name that suited us: Random. Unscheduled. Gathered by love of the art, not obligation.

Today
Waiting in the Spirit of Practice

Classes are on hold while Ms. Ruth heals. But a community forged through a pandemic does not dissolve easily. We are still here, still moving, still holding space for our circle — and for her.
